With the success of last year’s event, the Dorset Writers’ Network are hosting another story slam as part of the Open Book Festival in Bridport. Organised by Jennifer Bell of Storyslingers, the evening will be modelled on previous story slams where participants are asked to register in advance through email@example.com (or turn up and register on the night). If there are more registered writers than time slots, the names will be entered into a draw. Each time slot is five minutes maximum (about 780 words). All genres and styles of original prose welcome. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your talent so get writing and share your work with a supportive and enthusiastic audience.
The Story Slam will be held at The Beach and Barnicott, 6 South Street, Bridport DT6 3NQ from 7:15pm on Wednesday 16 October 2013. There is a £5 charge at the door. The bar is a vibrant meeting place that serves delicious food, so if you fancy a bite first, do get there early. The judges this year include Julie Musk, editor of Roving Press, writer Kate Kelly whose young fiction debut novel Red Rock is now available and myself. I’m delighted to be involved with the story slam and honoured to be a judge.
